Let’s Walk About It

Bringing
People Together

One Step at a Time

In 2020, when COVID-19 was keeping everyone apart, I noticed how tough it was for people to stay connected. Growing up, I'd often felt that isolation, so I knew I had to do something to help my community feel less alone.

That's when Walkie-Talkies was born.

I started organising casual walks where anyone could join-no pressure, just a chance to chat, enjoy the outdoors, and meet new people. It took off faster than I expected.

Walking and talking? It's a winning combo. Nature makes it easier to open up, and moving your body helps clear your mind and reduce stress. Plus, it's just good for you.

Before our second walk, we were already getting attention from local radio stations, newspapers, and even the news. Over the next year, I walked with more than 100 people across hundreds of kilometres. It was incredible to see how something as simple as a regular walk could help people feel heard, supported, and part of something positive.

I also used the platform to raise awareness for a cause close to my heart: changing the law to better support young people leaving foster care. In January 2022, after gathering 11,000 signatures, our petition succeeded. We helped hundreds of care leavers in our area get better housing support and extended care.

Today, I continue to host these free walk-and-talks in Perth. Now formerly known as "let's walk about it" They're open to anyone who needs a safe space to talk, make new friends, or just get out and move. No cost, no judgement-just community.
